It is an understatement to say the last month has been difficult. Stories from around the world have ranged from tragic to inspiring. When we get past this period and look back, what will be remembered and what will be shared? Most certainly the art created during this crisis will reveal the mixture of anxiety, humour and hope that speaks to our fortitude as social beings, who have been forced to reinvent what being social really means.
From painted rocks to sidewalk chalk designs and colourful drawings hanging in people’s window, these gifts of positivity are the glue that holds our community together. Helping to spread the sentiment “that we are all in this together,” several notable Woodstock personalities, including comedian Greg Morton and Maple Leafs star Jake Muzzin, have created special messages for our community. These uplifting personal messages can be found on the City of Woodstock’s Facebook page and website https://www.cityofwoodstock.ca/en/live-and-play/covid-19.aspx#specialmessage.
