Though we’re only halfway through 2021, Oxford County staff are already planning for 2022 – and they’re looking for the public’s guidance to decide priorities and projects for the coming year.

The county’s 2022 budget survey opened Wednesday for resident input. Open to all Oxford County residents, it has questions about both services provided by local municipalities, such as parks and recreation, as well as county-wide services like social services and water.

“Information collected from the budget survey will help provide a better understanding of how well municipal services are understood, how they are valued, and which ones are a priority for residents,” staff said.

While the surveys are done collectively, each municipality in Oxford County will receive its own copies, so a resident’s home municipality will understand which services are a priority for them.

The survey will also include a feedback section in case there are comments about anything not included on in the questionnaire. The survey was last done in 2018 and was completed by more than 650 residents who offered more than 1,000 comments and suggestions.

Oxford County is set to hold its special budget meetings on Nov. 17 and Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. respectively. The budget will be considered for council approval on Dec. 8.

The survey is available online at speakup.oxfordcounty.ca and will be open for input until Aug. 31.
